Wales - Castles, Coast & Steam Trains with Derek, Darren & Candy

Wales - Castles, Coast & Steam Trains

We were off to Gwili railway station where they were holding a display of old and vintage cars. We spent a good while wandering around the exhibited cars and lots of questions were asked of their owners which was very interesting.

At the station we met a couple of men dressed in policemen’s uniforms of an age gone by. We got shown into a signal box and saw the workings of the lines being changed to allow the engines to cross over track. Then we went on an amazing steam train ride through the countryside.

We went to Manorbier to view a beautiful castle with its lovely kept gardens. We climbed up the steps to the ramparts and also into the tower. We had wonderful views across the countryside and to the sea.

We had lunch overlooking the marina before visiting the maritime museum. There we enjoyed walking around the amazing exhibit.

In St David’s City we were taken by surprise at the beauty of the cathedral and other building.

We Explored one of the world’s largest award-winning dinosaur parks and saw over 220 life-sized dinosaur models.

We visited Kidwelly where we went into the castle and grounds. We poked our noses into every crook and cranny and even sat in a Kings chair! Even saw some Welsh dragons.

In Cardiff we visited the Castell Coch which is over a hundred years old and was built for one of the richest men in the world at that time. It was beautiful and yet again we wondered at its magnificence. We then drove to St Fagan’s, a museum of village life. Wandering around the fantastic museum we saw life as it was in times gone by. There were old shops, house and even a working blacksmith.
