Memphis - the Home of Elvis! - with Derek, Colin and Candy

Memphis - the Home of Elvis

In the spring of 1957, when Elvis Presley was 22, he purchased the home and grounds for just over $100,000.

The tour included the living room, his parents’ bedroom, the kitchen, TV room, pool room, the famous Jungle Room, his father’s office, the Trophy Building, the Racquetball Building, Meditation Garden, Elvis’ amazing display of gold and platinum awards and much more.

We got a glimpse into the Graceland Archives as we explored hundreds of artefacts from the collection. We learned more about Elvis' life and career through a special video presentation featuring amazing footage's.

We discovered Elvis’ love of cars and everything on wheels. We strolled down a tree-lined street featuring vehicles owned by Elvis. Highlights include his famous Pink Cadillac, Stutz Blackhawk, a 1956 Cadillac Eldorado convertible, Elvis’ John Deere tractor, his Rolls Royce sedans, his Mercedes Benz limousine and more.

We also climbed aboard Elvis’ customised jet, named after his daughter Lisa Marie. Inside the aircraft we walked through the living room, conference room, sitting room, and private bedroom, as well as gold-plated seat belts, suede chairs, leather covered tables, 24-karat gold-flecked sinks and more.

The final stop on the tour of Graceland Mansion was the Meditation Garden, where Elvis and members of his family have been laid to rest.

During our holiday we also visited the Memphis Hall of Fame. There were showcases of Elvis costumes and we saw many other musical related memorabilia. Also we spent much time listening to lots of tracks to various artists and sang and danced as we did so!

In the evening we visited the famous Beale Street and enjoyed evening of live blues, jazz & rock n roll!!!

On a glorious day in Memphis we visited the zoo, and spent all day walking around and seeing the many animals.
