Austria, Sound of Music Tour with Colin, John & Pat

We were exploding with excitement as we took our smooth flight to Austria.  Arriving at our breathtakingly beautiful hotel, we couldn't believe how picturesque it was.

Our Sound of Music Tour was  amazing!  It was incredible to visit the locations where the film was shot all those years ago.
We sang songs from the film all day long and had a smashing time on our brilliant Sound of Music Tour Bus!

Our holiday was packed full of fantastic adventures and the scenery was stunning.  Everyone loved looking at the mighty mountains all around.  We went to the impressive waterfall at Krimml, where the water cascaded down the mountainside with great force.

We went to the stunning Salzburg and explored the lush gardens and views of a wonderful hillside castle.  We also visited the striking Hohenwerfen Castle which stands proudly on a hill top.  Amazingly, it was built in 1701 and was a staggering sight!
We had to take a lift to get to the castle, looking out over spectacular views on the way up.  We had an excellent guided tour with an audio guide, learning about the history of the fortress throughout the years! We even had a game of old fashioned skittles - what fun!

We visited Bad Gastein where we took pictures by another thunderous waterfall and wandered around some delightful little shops.

Everybody loved our cable car ride up the mountain, and we were all taken aback when we ended up 2000 metres high!  We stopped at a café on the way down and devoured some traditional Apple Strudel.  Delicious!

One evening in our local village, we saw a traditional Austrian band who entertained a full house of people. We cheered loudly!

It was a superb holiday bursting with fun, laughter and LOTS of Jolly knee's up's!
